Announcements From ITCom
ITCom Holiday Schedule and Service Order DeadlinesITCom will be closed November 26 (Thanksgiving) and 27, 2009, and December 25, 2009–January 1, 2010. Deadlines have been established to help ensure that ITCom Service Orders are completed in a timely fashion during the holiday period. For guaranteed service, Service Orders must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. on the following dates: November 9
December 7
December 14 The Due Date for requests involving the purchase of network equipment will remain negotiated. Please note, these dates are for guaranteed services. ITCom will make every effort to complete all orders in a timely manner. In addition to the dates mentioned above, please refer to the Production Freeze Schedule for dates that may impact service requests. Exchange Voice Mail Personal Operator Feature RestoredThe Personal Operator (or zero out) feature in Exchange Voice Mail has been restored and is again working as intended. If you have questions, or need assistance with using this feature, please call ITCom Customer Service at 3-2000 (734-763-2000). Exchange Voice Mail Personal Operator Feature DisabledThe Personal Operator (or zero out) feature in Exchange Voice Mail is currently disabled. ITCom is working with the vendor to re-enable the feature as quickly as possible. The feature allows callers to press "0" to reach the person they are calling at another number. If you have set up Personal Operator on your voice mail, you will need to remove reference to it in your greeting. As a temporary work-around, your greeting could instruct callers to leave a message or hang up and dial a specific number. If you have questions, or need assistance, please call ITCom Customer Service at 3-2000 (734-763-2000). Campus 002 Telephone Numbers Will ChangeITCom is in the process of changing all existing phone numbers in the 734-002-XXXX range to a new campus phone number in one of the following exchanges: 615, 647, 764, 763, 936 or 565. This change is to eliminate potential internal call routing issues. Users will not see any change in billing or service, only the telephone number will change. Department Account Managers have been notified of this change. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact ITCom Customer Service at 734-763-2000 or e-mail itcom.csr@umich.edu. New Order EstimatorUse the new Order Estimator to get the general cost for a voice, data, or video line installation or activation. New ChartField Change Request Application AvailableA new ChartField Change Request application is now available through the Online Service Center (OSC). U-M department managers and their proxies who need to change the ChartFields that are billed for monthly recurring charges and/or local and long distance call charges can now make changes in one easy step. The department's ChartFields and ITCom items billed to them are available for selection and changing without having to look up and type in long lists of numbers. The old Chartfield Change Request Worksheet is still required to make ChartField changes for a few services, including Exchange E-mail or Calendar Services, Connected Backup Services, and Remote/some-Off-Campus Centrex Phone Services. If you have any questions about the new application or how to get access to the OSC, please send e-mail to itcombill@umich.edu or call 763-2000 option 5. ITCom Billing Changes for FY10 Service OrdersMost ITCom service order work performed after July 1, 2009, including routine orders for wiring and voice services, will be billed on a time and materials basis rather than a flat rate. This change is part of ITCom's continuing process to keep subsidization in rates to a minimum and to make all rates match actual costs. Since flat rates have been based on average costs, the FY10 actual cost of some orders may be less while other orders may be more expensive than the former flat rate. Components that impact cost include building construction issues and bundling of orders. If you have any questions about this change or concerns about a particular charge, please contact the ITCom Billing Group at itcombill@umich.edu. Billing Corrections for Exchange ServicesITCom has found that January charges for Exchange Services were inadvertently overbilled. A credit will be given and appear on February statements as "Exchange Credit." Every effort is being made so that this does not happen in future months. Campus Buildings Cellular Coverage SurveyC-Squared Systems has been hired to collect cellular coverage data in all U-M Ann Arbor campus buildings larger than 10,000 sq. feet, other than the hospitals and health centers.
